Punjab has launched a comprehensive cleanliness and sanitation upgrade under the Clean Punjab initiative, aiming to modernize waste management and improve public hygiene across the province. Traditional brooms are being replaced with electric vehicles and mechanical sweepers, ensuring that streets, alleys, and public spaces are cleaned daily, including Sundays.
The initiative also includes a Waste-to-Value project, which converts collected waste into energy, promoting sustainability while reducing landfill pressure. To strengthen sanitation services, the government is increasing the number of sanitation staff, constructing better waste enclosures, and strictly enforcing fines for littering.
Advanced digital monitoring systems have been introduced to track sanitation vehicles, optimize routes, and monitor payments, ensuring transparency, accountability, and improved performance in all districts. These measures reflect Punjab’s commitment to creating cleaner, greener cities while integrating technology-driven solutions for long-term urban management.
