Construction on Rawalpindi’s signal-free corridor project is progressing steadily, with significant milestones achieved at key intersections. Authorities have completed 80 percent of the piling on the Jinnah Park flyover and 10 percent on the corresponding underpass. At Kachehri Chowk, 28 percent of the piling and 32 percent of the girder work on the flyover is finished, while 17 percent of piling on the underpass has been completed. Meanwhile, at Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, guide beam work is complete, and drilling has commenced. Work at the three major intersections officially began on November 3. Commissioner Rawalpindi, Engineer Aamir Khattak, chaired a review meeting highlighting the importance of transparency, timely completion, and strict adherence to environmental standards. He confirmed that the funds released so far have been used according to the financial plan and approved further releases to sustain project momentum. The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was instructed to accelerate work on the Annexy Chowk and Iftikhar Janjua underpasses to improve traffic flow between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Additional updates on construction progress were provided by the Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Zainia Humayun, the Superintending Engineer Highways, and other relevant departmental officers, ensuring close monitoring of all project sites.
