The Broad Summer Research Program (BSRP) 2026 in the USA is now accepting applications, offering a fully funded, nine-week research opportunity for undergraduate students passionate about biomedical science, genomics, and related fields. Hosted by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, this program is designed to provide students with hands-on research experience, mentorship, and professional development to prepare them for graduate studies and careers in the life sciences. Participants will work on original laboratory or computational research projects in areas such as cancer biology, infectious diseases, and computational genomics, culminating in oral and poster presentations to showcase their findings.
The BSRP goes beyond laboratory training by offering a curriculum that strengthens scientific communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and career readiness. Students will attend seminars led by Harvard and MIT scientists, participate in weekly workshops on graduate school applications, and join sessions focused on professional growth and personal development. The program also provides networking opportunities, team-building activities, and social events, allowing students to experience Boston’s vibrant culture while building connections with peers and mentors.
Financially, the program is fully funded, offering a stipend of $5,400, free housing at partner university facilities, travel to and from Boston, and funding to present research at a national scientific conference. Students will receive close mentorship from leading scientists throughout the nine-week program, gaining practical research experience and exposure to cutting-edge scientific projects.
Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a four-year U.S. college or university for Fall 2025 with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or later. Students should be majoring in biological, physical, or computer sciences, engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM field, and hold a minimum GPA of 3.2. Candidates must be available for the full nine-week duration, demonstrate strong interest in pursuing graduate studies such as a PhD or MD–PhD, and be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have valid work authorization. No prior research experience is required, and students with limited STEM exposure are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply, candidates must submit an online application, unofficial transcripts, a CV or resume, short essay responses, and two letters of recommendation. The program will run from 1 June to 31 July 2026, with applications due by 11 January 2026 and letters of recommendation by 12 January 2026. Notifications of selection will be sent by mid-March.
The Broad Summer Research Program 2026 offers an invaluable opportunity for students to gain research experience at one of the world’s leading biomedical institutes, receive mentorship from top scientists, and prepare for advanced careers in science, all while fully supported financially.
