Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced that it will host the “Karachi Olympics 2026” in the city from January 21 to February 1, 2026, aiming to showcase Karachi as a hub for sports and youth talent. JI Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan shared details at a news conference, explaining that competitions will take place at both union council and town levels, covering sports such as cricket, football, table tennis, cycling, tug of war, and more. Registration for participants will open on January 8, with in-person registration available from 6pm to 11pm at designated centers and online registration accessible around the clock.
Monem Zafar Khan emphasized that the initiative is designed to provide a positive platform for young people, encourage sportsmanship, and bring hidden talent into the spotlight. He described the Karachi Olympics as a milestone in promoting healthy activities and engaging youth in constructive pursuits. Highlighting the role of opposition parties in fostering such initiatives, he suggested that if JI can organize an event of this scale, the government should also be able to take similar measures to support youth development.
In addition to sports-related announcements, Monem Zafar Khan criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM), accusing the party of contributing to the destruction of Karachi and engaging in political maneuvering through blackmail. The Karachi Olympics 2026 is being positioned as both a celebration of sports and a platform to inspire unity and talent among the city’s youth.
