The United States has announced its squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with one notable absence drawing attention. Former Pakistan fast bowler Ehsan Adil, who represented Pakistan internationally between 2013 and 2015 and has a strong domestic record, was widely expected to feature in the team. Despite earlier reports linking him to selection and his inclusion in an expanded touring squad in Sri Lanka, Adil’s name does not appear in the final lineup for the tournament.
The USA squad, led by captain Monank Patel and vice-captain Jessy Singh, includes ten players who were part of the 2024 World Cup team, returning for the country’s second appearance after reaching the Super 8 stage on debut. Key returning players include Andries Gous, Milind Kumar, Shayan Jahangir, Harmeet Singh, Nosthush Kenjige, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Ali Khan. Wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous led the USA batting charts in 2024 with 219 runs, while Saurabh Netravalkar was the team’s top bowler with six wickets.
New additions to the squad include Shubham Ranjane, who will make his T20I debut, and Mohammad Mohsin and Shehan Jayasuriya, who may also earn their first international caps. Placed in Group A, the United States will face India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Namibia in the group stage, beginning their campaign against India on February 7 in Mumbai. The squad combines experienced returnees with new talent, aiming to build on the USA’s strong showing in the previous World Cup and compete effectively on the global stage.
