China has introduced the world’s largest electric river cargo ship, a groundbreaking advancement in sustainable maritime transport. The vessel, named Gezuba, is 130 meters long and powered by 12 high-capacity lithium battery units that together provide 24,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. Designed to carry up to 13,000 tons of cargo, the ship combines massive capacity with eco-friendly efficiency.

With an operational range of around 500 kilometers on a single charge, Gezuba is equipped with an intelligent control system that enables remote navigation and automatic docking. This advanced technology enhances safety, optimizes energy use, and reduces human error during operations.

Experts describe the vessel as a milestone in green shipping innovation, highlighting its environmental benefits. The electric ship is expected to save approximately 617 tons of fuel and reduce carbon emissions by nearly 2,000 tons every year. Its launch aligns with China’s broader efforts to promote clean energy solutions and transition toward carbon-neutral transportation systems.

The development of Gezuba marks a significant leap toward sustainable logistics, setting a new benchmark for the global shipping industry and showcasing how renewable technology can transform heavy cargo transport.
