The historic Hiran Minar in Sheikhupura has been transformed into a modern tourist destination through new eco-friendly and recreational developments introduced by the Punjab Tourism and Archaeology Department. The site now features a floating jetty that doubles as a restaurant, along with a mini zoo and a scenic three-kilometre forest trail accessible via bicycles and electric golf carts, encouraging sustainable and green travel options for visitors. A new double-decker tourist bus service has also been launched, connecting Waris Shah’s shrine with Hiran Minar, with plans to extend the route to include Sheikhupura Fort. The project integrates local cultural performances and designated barbecue areas for families, aiming to enrich the visitor experience while promoting regional tourism and creating new employment opportunities.
