Pakistan Railways is reportedly achieving record-breaking daily revenues, marking a milestone not seen in the past three decades, according to Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi. In a recent video message, Abbasi highlighted that reforms implemented over the past eight months have significantly boosted the department’s earnings, driven by both passenger and freight services. For the last 15 days, Pakistan Railways has reportedly earned nearly Rs300 million per day, reflecting the impact of modernization and strategic initiatives across the network.

The minister emphasized that Pakistan Railways has undergone full digitalization nationwide, enhancing operational efficiency and moving the organization toward sustainable growth. Alongside digital upgrades, major improvements are underway for railway infrastructure, including track enhancements between Nokundi to Rohri and Rohri to Karachi, with agreements for these projects already finalized. Abbasi assured that the government is committed to realizing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, completing all ongoing projects, and achieving set targets by 31 December 2026.

In addition to operational reforms, Pakistan Railways has also focused on modernizing its educational institutions under a Public-Private Partnership model. The department recently outsourced several railway schools to private educational organizations, aiming to enhance the quality of education for children of railway employees. Railway Boys and Girls School Karachi has been outsourced to TYMS Education System, while Railway Girls High School Mughalpura Lahore and Railway Girls Saint Andrews School and College Lahore have been handed over to SAGE/DAGE Education Pvt. Ltd.

The private partners are expected to introduce modern curricula, advanced teaching methodologies, upgraded examination systems, fully equipped science and computer laboratories, sports facilities, and renovated school buildings. This initiative aligns with the broader vision to modernize Pakistan Railways’ educational facilities while ensuring access to quality education for the children of railway staff.
