LAHORE: The Punjab government has activated free Wi-Fi services in girls’ colleges across the province, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in a move aimed at enhancing students’ access to digital learning resources.
Implemented by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the initiative is designed to provide students with reliable internet access, enabling them to access educational material, conduct online research, and engage in digital learning tools more effectively. Officials say the project represents a major step toward modernizing education and integrating technology into classrooms across Punjab.
The rollout has been widely welcomed by both students and teachers. Many have called the free Wi-Fi facility a valuable addition, highlighting that it will make learning more convenient, interactive, and effective. Students also expressed gratitude to CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the Safe Cities Authority, stating that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting female education and providing equal opportunities for young women.
Officials noted that the project will continue to expand, with plans to extend Wi-Fi access to more educational institutions in the coming months, further strengthening Punjab’s vision of a digitally empowered student community.
