The WTO Internship Programme 2025 offers a paid opportunity for postgraduate students from around the world to gain practical experience within a globally recognized international organization. Based in Switzerland, the internship takes place at the headquarters of the World Trade Organization in Geneva and provides an enriching environment where interns can apply their academic knowledge, build new skills, and work alongside professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Open to individuals between the ages of 21 and 30 who are nationals of WTO member countries or countries in accession negotiations, this program seeks applicants who have already completed their undergraduate degree and are at least one year into a postgraduate program. Interns engage in a range of professional areas, including trade law, economics, administration, communications, human resources, language services, statistics, IT, and information management.

The internship is designed to last for a maximum of six months and offers a daily stipend of CHF 60. This financial support helps cover living costs during the stay in Geneva, providing students the chance to focus on gaining experience in a real-world, multicultural working environment. Interns contribute to the work of the WTO while learning directly from top professionals and experts involved in shaping global trade policy.

The experience also helps interns develop a deeper understanding of international trade systems and the functioning of the WTO as the only global organization responsible for regulating trade between nations. By participating, students not only refine their academic and professional skills but also broaden their global perspective, making them more competitive in future career pursuits.

Applications are submitted online through the official WTO portal. Candidates are required to select their preferred area of interest and submit all necessary supporting documents via the system. As applications are accepted on a rolling basis until December 31, 2025, early submission is strongly encouraged to maximize the chances of selection.

This internship program offers an exceptional opportunity to gain exposure to international policymaking, develop essential career skills, and contribute meaningfully to the mission of facilitating fair and predictable global trade.
