PIA Flight PK-860 Safely Lands After Cabin Pressure Drop, Passengers Evacuated in Jeddah-Lahore Incident

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly averted a mid-air accident after a sudden drop in cabin pressure shortly after takeoff. The incident involved PIA flight PK-860 traveling from Jeddah to Lahore, during which the cabin experienced an oxygen shortage, prompting the automatic deployment of oxygen masks above passenger seats. The cabin crew acted swiftly, assisting passengers with the masks while providing reassurance to keep them calm.

The captain demonstrated quick thinking and professional expertise, maintaining full control of the aircraft while coordinating with air traffic control at the nearest Dammam Airport. Following clearance for an emergency landing, the plane was safely brought down without any injuries. All passengers were initially transferred to the airport lounge and later reached Lahore via an alternative flight. PIA authorities confirmed that all necessary support and facilities were provided to the affected passengers.

This is the second near-miss incident involving a PIA flight this year. Earlier, PIA flight PK-203, a Dubai-bound plane from Lahore, narrowly avoided an accident when a bird struck the aircraft shortly after takeoff. The pilot promptly contacted air traffic control, requested emergency landing clearance, and successfully landed the plane, ensuring the safety of all 150 passengers on board.

These incidents highlight the airline’s emphasis on emergency preparedness and the professionalism of its flight and cabin crew in handling unexpected situations.
