LAHORE: Heavy fog in Punjab caused severely reduced visibility late Tuesday night, leading to the temporary closure of several motorway sections, reported on Wednesday.
Motorway authorities shut down multiple routes due to safety concerns. The M-2 motorway was closed from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Faizpur to Jaranwala and Darkhana, and M-4 from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian. Additionally, the Lahore to Sialkot route (M-11) was also temporarily closed. These sections were reopened once visibility improved.
Motorways Police have advised drivers to use fog lights and exercise caution while traveling in foggy conditions to prevent accidents.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a change in weather, with a new system expected to bring intermittent rainfall across various parts of the country, potentially impacting road conditions further.
