At the Future Summit in Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah commended the historic election of 34-year-old Muslim Zohran Mamdani as the new mayor of New York, calling it a reflection of global progress toward inclusive and youth-driven leadership. He noted that Karachi had already embraced young leadership in governance, remarking, “The change that started from Karachi has now reached New York.”

During his address, Murad Ali Shah highlighted Sindh’s ongoing development initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable growth and social equity. He outlined major projects such as the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood-Affectees, which provides resilient housing for disaster-affected communities, the Karachi Safe City Project to enhance urban security through modern surveillance and technology, and several green development programs designed to promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience across the province.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Sindh’s development agenda aligns with the principles of innovation, inclusivity, and long-term progress, serving as a model for other regions. He also acknowledged the broader global context, noting that the recent electoral victories of Democrats in the United States—culminating in Mamdani’s historic win—reflect shifting political dynamics and an increasing embrace of diversity and youth participation in governance.

Murad Ali Shah concluded by expressing optimism that such milestones, both in Pakistan and abroad, mark the beginning of a new era of leadership that values progress, equality, and global cooperation.
