Karachi’s University Road will remain closed from November 10 to December 30 as part of the Karachi Water and Sewerage System Improvement Project (KWSSIP), officials announced on Sunday. The closure has been implemented to facilitate the laying of water pipelines under the K-4 supply scheme, with a total of 2.7 kilometres of pipelines planned between NIPA Chowrangi and Federal Urdu University.
The project will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, construction will take place from NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University. The second phase will extend the work from Hasan Square to NIPA Chowrangi. During the development, large-diameter water lines measuring 96 inches and 72 inches will be installed to enhance the city’s water supply infrastructure.
Authorities have confirmed that all work is scheduled to be completed by December 30, and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes during the closure period to avoid traffic disruptions in the area. The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve Karachi’s water distribution network and ensure a more reliable supply for residents.
