Pakistan secured a long-awaited T20I series win over Australia with a commanding performance in the second match, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This victory marks Pakistan’s first T20 series triumph against Australia in seven years, following their last 3-0 whitewash in the UAE in 2018.

After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and posted an imposing total of 198 for 5 in 20 overs. Saim Ayub set a strong foundation, hitting boundaries consistently and establishing momentum early. Captain Salman Ali Agha continued the onslaught, particularly after Saim’s opening partner Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed. Agha delivered a match-defining innings, scoring 76 runs off 40 balls with eight fours and four sixes. He was well supported by Usman Khan, who contributed a composed 53 off 36 balls, including four fours and two sixes, and forged a crucial 50-run partnership with Shadab Khan to maintain a healthy run rate. Mohammad Nawaz finished the innings with a few late boundaries, pushing Pakistan close to the 200-run mark.

Australia’s chase was never able to gain traction as Pakistan’s spinners produced a dominant performance to dismantle the batting lineup. Saim Ayub also made an impact with the ball, dismissing Travis Head once again and continuing a trend that has troubled the Australian opener throughout the series. Pakistan’s spin trio consistently took wickets, and Australia were eventually bowled out for 108, handing Pakistan a comprehensive 90-run victory.

The series win highlights Pakistan’s growing momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka. With the series already secured at 2-0, Pakistan now has the opportunity to complete a clean sweep in the final T20I match against Australia.
