Pakistan and Bahrain Aim to Boost Bilateral Trade to $1 Billion as PM Shehbaz Strengthens Economic and Security Ties

Pakistan and Bahrain have set an ambitious goal to boost bilateral trade to $1 billion over the next three years, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced during his official visit to Manama. The visit, aimed at strengthening economic and strategic ties, included high-level meetings with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

During the discussions, PM Shehbaz highlighted several key sectors with potential for collaboration, including information technology, food security, construction, renewable energy, and port connectivity. Both sides explored opportunities to enhance investment flows, joint ventures, and technology exchange, with a focus on sustainable economic growth and long-term trade expansion.

The talks also addressed defence and cybersecurity cooperation, reflecting the shared interest in regional stability and national security. The leaders exchanged views on pressing regional developments, including the humanitarian situation in Gaza, underscoring the importance of collaborative approaches to conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

In recognition of his efforts to deepen bilateral relations, PM Shehbaz was awarded Bahrain’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Bahrain (First Class). The ceremony highlighted the mutual respect and long-standing partnership between the two nations. Both Pakistan and Bahrain reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade, strengthening security ties, and fostering people-to-people connections, emphasizing a shared vision of prosperity and regional cooperation.
