Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik informed the National Assembly that 40 new oil and gas reserves have been discovered during the current coalition government’s tenure. Of these, 18 reserves are already operational, marking a significant step in strengthening Pakistan’s domestic energy sector.

By December 2025, natural gas production from the operational fields reached 61 million cubic feet per day, while daily oil output stood at 1,553 barrels, contributing to energy security and reducing reliance on imports. The remaining 22 reserves are in the processing stage and are expected to further increase national production capacity once brought online.
