Footage Sparks Debate After Chinese J-20 Stealth Jet Reportedly Flew Near Taiwanese Airbase During Drill

New footage circulating online appears to show a Chinese J-20 stealth fighter flying near a Taiwanese airbase during a recent military drill, raising renewed concerns over airspace security and detection capabilities. The video has been linked to China’s “Justice Mission 2025” exercise, with analysts suggesting the aircraft came within visual range near Checheng township in southern Taiwan, close to the Pingtung airbase.

Some defense commentators claim the J-20 may have approached the area without being detected by Taiwanese air defenses, though this assertion has not been independently verified. Taiwan has not released any official confirmation or imagery regarding the reported encounter.

The People’s Liberation Army has hinted that one of its stealth aircraft flew close to the base on December 30. However, military experts caution that there is no third-party evidence confirming that the jet entered Taiwanese airspace. The incident has fueled debate about regional military activity, surveillance capabilities, and escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
