A Chinese automotive supplier has introduced an innovative approach to vehicle safety with what it claims is the world’s first helmet-style airbag integrated directly into car seats. Unlike conventional airbags that protect a single impact area, this system inflates around the head, neck, shoulders, and spine, complementing side airbags to fully shield passengers during a collision.
The technology features smart sensors linked to driver-assistance systems, capable of detecting if a seat is reclined and instantly returning it to an upright position within milliseconds before airbag deployment, enhancing overall protection. Reports indicate that this advanced safety system may first appear in the Luxeed V9, a joint vehicle project by Huawei and Chery, representing a significant advancement in automotive safety design.
