The Punjab government has opened admissions for the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism, Pakistan’s first government-run institution dedicated exclusively to autistic children. The initiative, launched under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, marks a major step toward expanding inclusive education and specialized support services in the province.

According to the Special Education Department, parents can now register their children through the online admission portal. The school is accepting applications for children aged 3 to 16, offering three structured academic sections designed to meet developmental needs across different age groups. Early Childhood Education is available for children between 3 and 5 years, the Junior Section is open to those aged 6 to 12, while the Senior Section caters to students aged 13 to 16.

Officials explained that the institution provides a comprehensive learning environment focused on developmental growth, communication skills, behavior management, and individualized support. The school features tailored teaching methods, therapy rooms, sensory facilities, and trained staff equipped to work with autistic children. The centre aims to ensure early intervention, skill-building, and appropriate educational pathways for children who require specialized attention.

Parents have until December 10, 2025, to submit their admission forms online. Authorities emphasize that the establishment of this school reflects the provincial government’s commitment to improving access to specialized education and strengthening support systems for children with autism across Pakistan. The initiative is expected to serve as a model for future government-operated centers that prioritize inclusion, early diagnosis, and comprehensive developmental care.
