The National Accountability Bureau has reported a landmark achievement for 2025, announcing record recoveries totaling Rs6.13 trillion, the highest amount in the institution’s history and what it describes as the largest single-year recovery by any accountability body worldwide. The figures highlight an unprecedented scale of asset recovery and enforcement activity carried out during the year.
According to NAB, the total recoveries include Rs56.11 billion obtained through direct recoveries, along with Rs6.074 trillion in indirect recoveries. A major portion of the indirect recoveries came from the reclamation of approximately 2.9 million acres of state and forest land, which authorities estimate to be worth around Rs5.92 trillion. Officials said the land recovery represented a significant step toward protecting public assets and reversing long-standing encroachments.
In addition to asset reclamation, NAB reported that it distributed Rs164.91 billion among more than 70,000 victims affected by financial fraud, corruption cases, and housing scams. The distribution of recovered funds aimed to provide relief to affected citizens and restore public confidence in accountability mechanisms.
NAB officials stated that these outcomes reflect strengthened accountability measures, improved investigative capacity, and a greater focus on asset recovery and restitution. The bureau emphasized that the record recoveries demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding national resources, holding offenders accountable, and ensuring that recovered assets are returned to the state or rightful victims.
