Following the successful inauguration of the Shaheen Chowk underpass, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved plans to construct another underpass at Kashmir Chowk in Islamabad to address one of the city’s most persistent traffic congestion points. The decision was made during a special meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where officials were briefed on ongoing public welfare initiatives.

The proposed “Smart Underpass” at Kashmir Chowk aims to streamline traffic flow along key connecting routes, reducing delays and improving commuting efficiency for residents and commuters. CDA has been directed to finalize and submit the underpass design within 10 days to ensure that the project can proceed without delay. The initiative reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and tackle traffic challenges in the capital.
