Ukraine Uses Armed Ground Robot to Hold Frontline Position for 45 Days Without Casualties

Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps has reported a significant battlefield development, saying its forces successfully held frontline positions for 45 consecutive days using a remote-controlled ground combat robot against advancing Russian troops. The uncrewed system, known as the Droid TW 12.7, was deployed by the Third Assault Brigade and played a key role in preventing enemy infiltration during the prolonged engagement.

The Droid TW 12.7 is a heavily armed unmanned ground vehicle equipped with a .50-caliber M2 Browning machine gun, allowing it to deliver sustained and accurate firepower without exposing Ukrainian soldiers to direct danger. According to the corps, the robot was operated remotely from a secure location, enabling troops to suppress repeated Russian attempts to advance toward the position. The continuous machine-gun fire forced Russian units to halt their movements and prevented them from gaining ground.

Ukrainian officials stated that throughout the 45-day deployment, Russian forces were unable to breach or capture the defended position despite repeated efforts. The operation was completed without a single Ukrainian casualty, underscoring the effectiveness of the unmanned system in reducing risks to personnel while maintaining combat capability on the front line.

Military analysts say the successful use of the Droid TW 12.7 highlights the expanding role of unmanned ground systems in modern warfare, particularly in high-risk frontline environments. The operation demonstrates how remotely operated combat robots can enhance defensive positions, sustain long-term operations, and shift the balance of battlefield dynamics by combining firepower with force protection.
